Did you know that volunteering is highly associated with greater health and happiness?

In fact, people who volunteer or give are happier, healthier and sleep better than those who don’t.

At Medibank, we are committed to helping our people be the best that they can be. That’s why all Medibank employees have access to eight hours of community leave per year.

Volunteering not only helps the charities, but it also makes you feel good and introduces you to communities and people you may never had the chance to meet. It’s also a fantastic team activity, deeply rewarding and lots of fun!

We know that choosing the cause that you want to support and that is most meaningful to you is a personal decision. That’s why, in addition to organised volunteer opportunities, the Feel Good Giving program has been designed to provide you with as much flexibility as possible to choose which cause or organisation you’d like to volunteer for. From filling people’s tummies with nourishing meals in the Salvation Army Street Café to getting creative and brightening up a community centre with a lick of paint, to using your skills such as marketing or customer service to help a charity implement a plan, there’s something for everyone.

Remember that keeping your volunteering commitments is very important, as our community partners rely on volunteers to deliver their core services, and last-minute cancellations can put them in a difficult position.

Of course, the cause or values of the organisation you choose to support should be aligned with Medibank’s purpose and values. Medibank does not donate to, or support volunteering for, activities that are politically or religiously affiliated, illegal in nature, or promote viewpoints that are not in line with Medibank’s values. If you have any questions about the organisation you would like to support, please contact the Community & Wellbeing team.
